1.2 Information We Collect Automatically
- Usage data: pages visited, links and buttons clicked, time spent, and how you arrived (referrer and campaign parameters)
- Device information: browser type, operating system, screen size, and IP address, which we use to estimate your approximate location (country and city)
- Session recordings: we record how visitors use the website (mouse movement, clicks, scrolling, and what appears on the page, including text typed into forms such as search, email sign-up and contact forms) so we can see where the site is confusing or broken. We watch these recordings to improve WildPocket and do not use them for advertising. When you buy a guide, the identifier of the recording of your visit is stored with your order.

3. How We Share Your Information

3.1 Service Providers
- Payment processors (Stripe) for transaction processing
- Email service providers for communications
- PostHog, Inc. (United States) for product analytics and session recording. Analytics requests are sent through our own domain (wildpocket.com/ingest) and forwarded to PostHog.
- Vercel, Inc. (United States), through its AI Gateway, to answer questions typed into the ask box on place pages. The question, the place, and your approximate location (the city and region your IP address points to) go to Vercel and on to the company hosting the AI model that answers. We only allow hosts that keep none of it and do not train on it.
- Sentry (Functional Software, Inc.) for error monitoring
- Vercel Web Analytics and Umami for traffic statistics and analytics
- Customer support tools
3.2 Legal Requirements

We use reasonable measures to protect your personal information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) and reputable service providers. Payments are handled by Stripe; we never see or store your full card details.
However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

You can contact us to ask what personal information we hold about you, or to have it corrected or deleted, subject to any records we must keep by law (for example, order records).

You can unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time using the link in our emails or by contacting us directly.

We use cookies and similar technologies to:

You can control cookies through your browser settings, though this may affect platform functionality.
PostHog stores a random identifier in a first-party cookie and in your browser's local storage so that visits from the same browser can be grouped together. Session recordings are kept for 30 days.
Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control. If your browser sends a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal, we don't load PostHog at all, so no analytics events or session recordings are sent for your visits. You can also clear cookies and site data at any time to reset the identifier.
Questions you ask. Questions typed into the ask box, with the answers, are recorded in PostHog and emailed to Hamilton so we can learn what visitors are looking for, unless your browser sends Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control; our server checks for both signals itself before recording or sending anything. If you ask Hamilton to follow up, your question, the answer and your email address are emailed to him.
7. Data Retention
We retain your information for as long as necessary to:
- Provide our services to you

- Enforce our agreements
Account information is typically retained for the duration of your account plus applicable legal retention periods.
8. International Data Transfers
WildPocket is operated from the United States, and our service providers process data in the United States. If you visit from another country, your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States.
9. Children's Privacy
Our services are not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you become aware that a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete such information.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the “Last Updated” date. Your continued use of our services after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
